The 2006 PEJE Assembly for Jewish Day School Education took place March 19-21 in Boston, Massachusetts. During the three-day event, PEJE welcomed over 1,000 people from over 200 day schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia and Israel. The Assembly featured unparalleled opportunities to access high-level expertise, exchange ideas, network, and propel the day school movement forward.

Ronald A. Heifetz

Dr. Ronald A. Heifetz is the King Hussein bin Talal Lecturer in Public Leadership at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a co-founder of the Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership. Through his many books and publications, including the best-selling Leadership Without Easy Answers, he has developed the concept of and discourse around adaptive leadership in the non-profit world. Formerly a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Heifetz works extensively with leaders in government, nonprofits, and business. His consultations and seminars with individuals, executive committees, and leadership teams focus on the work of leaders in generating and sustaining adaptive change across political boundaries, operating units, product divisions, and functions in politics, government agencies, and international businesses. Heifetz is a graduate of Columbia University, Harvard Medical School, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is also a cellist and former student of Gregor Piatigorsky.

A day school parent, Heifetz is a gifted thinker and speaker whose presence will bring vision and unparalleled expertise to the PEJE Assembly.

Douglas Reeves

Dr. Douglas Reeves is CEO and founder of the Center for Performance Assessment, an international organization dedicated to improving student achievement and educational equity. Through its long-term relationships with school systems, the Center helps educators and school leaders to improve student achievement through practical and constructive approaches to standards, assessment, and accountability. Dr. Reeves is a frequent keynote speaker in the U.S. and abroad for education, government, and business organizations and is a faculty member of leadership programs sponsored by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Reeves is the author of more than twenty books and many articles, including The Learning Leader: How to Focus School Improvement for Better Results (ASCD, in press), as well as the best-selling Making Standards Work: How to Implement Standards-Based Assessments in the Classroom, School and District, now in its third edition.

Reeves has been a keynote speaker at PEJE's Grantee Conference, and his DVD "Improving School Performance and Staff Motivation Through Better Leadership Evaluation" was widely distributed to the day school field following the PEJE 2004 Donor & Leadership Assembly.
