The Israel Engagement Community of Practice (CoP) is open to all professional leaders, lay leaders, secular and Judaic studies teachers, and specialists in Jewish day schools across North America who have major responsibility at their schools for policy, programming, curriculum development, and teaching about Israel and the Jewish people.
Within the CoP, professionals and lay leaders collaborate on ways to share best educational practices to create deeper connections between Israel and the American Diasporas. Conversation (on conference calls and online) focuses on how, when, and where to meaningfully integrate programming into a school's curriculum to ensure that students engage in both cognitive and affective learning to promote their understandings of Israel and their relationship to it.
Marion Gribetz is the facilitator. She is a faculty member and Associate Dean at Shoolman School of Jewish Education at Hebrew College .She has taught in Jewish day schools, congregational settings, JCCs, museums, and universities. From 1984-87, she was a Jerusalem Fellow and began her doctoral studies in Jewish art and education. During that time she worked at Jerusalem's Israel Museum and served on the faculty of Melton Center at Hebrew University.
She is able to tap into wide variety of rich resources and networks in the US and Israel.
We welcome your participation. This learning community can have a profound impact on a vitally important aspect of Jewish education in the 21st century within our day schools. To join, please contact Marion Gribetz.

Conference Call Information
Beyond Distancing : what materials can we
use to engage middle
and high school students with Israel
Based on the research conducted by
the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Foundation about young adult Jews and
their relationship with Israel we will explore together the materials
created in response to this research and plan together how these
materials could be used in JDS to increase teen engagement with
Israel. We will also think about ways to reach out to non day school
students with these materials as a way of encouraging increased
engagement with Israel and potential recruitment of students to JDS
