Development Director Job Description

Reports to: Head of School

  • Lead the development and implementation of annual and multi-year development goals and strategies for all sources of philanthropic support
  • As part of the school’s senior leadership team, play a major role in determining strategic priorities and monitoring the budget and performance of the school’s financial resource development efforts
  • Serve as lead staff for the Board of Trustees’ Development Committee
  • Forge relationships to cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from a personal portfolio of major donors and prospects, and guide relationships of the Head of School and volunteers to do the same
  • Supervise, mentor and ensure professional development opportunities for development and administrative staff
  • Partner with admissions and communications staff to develop strategic donor communications, including constituency-based key messages, a comprehensive fundraising brand position, fundraising collateral, and an annual case for support
  • Partner with finance staff to develop and monitor revenue projections for contributed income
  • Serve as primary development staff liaison to Board of Trustees

Serve as visible ambassador for the school in the community
