2011 Challenge Award for North American Jewish Day Schools:
Driving Increased Revenue Through Innovation

The 2011 Challenge Award for North American Jewish Day Schools was designed to encourage day schools to pursue new and creative initiatives that boost financial sustainability.

Leadership and Fundraising Academy (LFA)

The LFA brings together heads of school, development professionals, board chairs, and other board leaders to change the culture of fundraising at their schools. Over 18 months, these school leaders participate in a series of strategic, full-day seminars, concurrent coaching, and the Strategic Financial Modeling Tool; the initiative trains leaders to understand the intersection of governance and financial resource development.

Currently, 10 schools in Los Angeles are participating in the LFA, made possible by the foundational support and sponsorship of Janine and Peter Lowy and the partnership of the Los Angeles BJE.

Development Conference Mentor Program

The August 2009 conference in Chicago paired participants with one of three veteran Jewish day school development professionals. These relationships are ongoing in 2009-2010, with periodic check-in calls.
